About

I am an artist and a photographer based  in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Through painting, I seek to create an engaging visual environment through line, colour and form. This also provides me with the means to develop my own unique artistic voice. I don't seek to give a critique or comment on a past style or movement. I think that a painting should be first and foremost, a painting. Meanings are extra layers, not the foundation.

Through photography, I seek a contemporary documentary style that is natural and unique owing much to fine-art. I try to capture soulful and off-guard candids that reflect what special moments are truly about.

Artist Statement

My work until 2014 focused on abstract art and how it recorded and evoked emotions through colour, movement and arrangement. My current work goes back to where I started twenty years ago, focusing on the representation of human figure and portraiture.

Abstract for me was an easy and fast struggle; human figure and portraiture in the other hand has a deeper pursuit of beauty, emotional, and psychological investigation.

Through my art, I seek to create an engaging visual environment through line, colour and form. This provides me with the means to develop my own unique artistic voice. My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience. The artists I most admire can be a long list of old masters and contemporary artist that include Lucian Freud, Rembrandt, and John Singer Sargent.
